Member Profile: Ellen Troyer

Long before it was the hot topic it is today, Ellen Troyer became interested in tear film chemistry and dry eye disease.

“I am fascinated with the eye,” says Ellen, chief executive officer and chief research officer of Biosyntrx, a nutritional biotechnology company that she co-founded. “We can learn so much about what’s happening in the rest of the body by studying the eye and specifically the multilayer tear film. It’s the first place that refracts light, so if the tear film is not biochemically intact, visual acuity is compromised.”
