OWL and Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) will host their annual Monday night event on Monday, October 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Hyatt McCormick Place, which is being sponsored by Ora, Inc. as well as contributing sponsors Imprimis Pharmaceuticals and Nicox.

The event's theme is "It Takes A Village: Integrated Approach to Quality Care," which will feature a panel discussion on the importance of working together across diverse professional disciplines in the eye care field to achieve the highest level of patient care. The panel will consist of:

  • Moderator: Jane Rady, Divisional Vice President, Business Development & Communications, Abbott Medical Optics,
  • Linda Christmann, M.D., MBA, Incoming President of WIO. Linda is currently Regional Chief Medical Officer for three acute care hospitals in Florida,
  • Nick Tarantino, O.D., is Chief Clinical and Regulatory Officer at AcuFocus,
  • Lisa Arbisser, M.D., Clinical Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Utah at the John A. Moran Eye Center, and
  • Candace Cantonese, Senior Cataract Account Manager at Alcon.

The evening will begin with a brief social time, dedicated to networking. The panel program will follow, with opening remarks provided by Marsha Link, Ph.D., President of OWL, and Mildred Olivier, M.D., President of Women in Ophthalmology. The panel discussion, including time for Q & A, will be followed by a wine tasting, courtesy of the Good Life Wine Collective, Napa Valley, CA.

WIO will present the Women in Ophthalmology Suzanne Veronneau-Troutman Award to an outstanding female ophthalmologist during the Joint Reception.

Admission to the reception is free for OWL members and $25 for non-members. Registration is available on this event page or at the door.
